Robert Snodgrass admits wearing Celtic kit to Rangers training as Alan Brazil troll leaves midfielder defending 'dig'

The former Scotland international turned out for an Ibrox youth side as he attempted to break into first-team football.

Former Scotland star Robert Snodgrass confessed he used to wear his Celtic shorts to Rangers training.

But the 36-year-old insisted it was not meant as a dig at the Ibrox side as he was put on the spot about his youth career by talkSPORT host Alan Brazil. During his early days as a player, Snodgrass spent time in Rangers Boys Club before eventually settling on a switch to Livingston - which propelled him into first-team football as a teenager and kickstarted his career.

The former West Ham, Leeds United and Norwich City midfielder has been without a club since leaving Hearts last season and he joined Brazil and former Aston Villa teammate Gabby Agbonlahor to look back on his career highs and lows. But Celtic diehard Brazil was quick to bring up his time in the Light Blues ranks with Snodgrass stating: "I was at Rangers Boys Club and I was in at Celtic, then Blackburn Rovers tried to take us down there when I was a young kid. They tried to do the same again when I was 16.

"Obviously Livingston were really good where I made my debut. I was round about the first-team early doors which I think is vital. "

Alan Brazil then chimed in - joking he was wearing his Celtic kit under his Rangers strip during his youth days with the Light Blues. Snodgrass confessed: "When I went to Rangers, the actual pro-team, I used to wear the old Celtic bumblebee shorts under the Rangers shorts.

"It wasn't a dig at them - it was just the only shorts I had - they were my brothers shorts. Looking back it was a good time getting into Rangers, Celtic, Hamilton and other teams."
