A furious Jamie Carragher has condemned Luton Town fans after they were heard singing a tragedy chant directed at Liverpool during their Premier League game.
Liverpool drew 1-1 with Luton at Kenilworth road on Sunday afternoon but the home fans were heard chanting the 'always the victims' chant.
The chant is often considered to be linked with the Hillsborough disaster of 1989, and is widely condemned in the football world.
An independent panel and fresh inquests exonerated Liverpool fans of any blame for the disaster that saw 97 people killed in a stadium crush during an FA Cup game against Sheffield United.
Former Reds defender Carragher has slammed Luton fans for singing the chant and has insisted supporters 'have to be better than that'.

Luton fans could be heard singing a tragedy chant directed at Liverpool during their game
Carragher remarked on Sky Sports at halftime: ' I just want to mention something, the start of the season was involved in something with supporters coming together about tragedy chanting.
'I just heard in a couple times during this game, you've got to have rivalry but we are better than that.
'Two or three times in game, a few minutes ago as well. All clubs been guilty of that over the years but world we live in right now we are better than that.'
There has been incidents over the years of rival supporters using the tragedy to mock Liverpool fans and that appears to have been the case at Luton.
A statement at the beginning of the season by the Premier League condemned the use of tragedy chanting, with heavy punishments set for fans.
In the past there has also been tragedy chants directed at Manchester United about the Munich air disaster.
The statement read: 'Premier League clubs unanimously agreed at the Annual General Meeting today to a series of new measures to address the unacceptable rise in anti-social behaviour involving football tragedy-related chanting, gesturing, graffiti, online abuse and other behaviours last season.
