Jurgen Klopp was left fuming at the organisation of his press conference after Liverpool's dramatic defeat to Toulouse.

Individual mistakes and a poor all-round display from the Reds saw the hosts take a 3-1 lead but Diogo Jota’s 89th-minute strike, after Cristian Casseres’ own goal had got them back into the game, set up a dramatic conclusion to the Europa League clash.

In the seventh and final minute of added time, 20-year-old centre-back Jarell Quansah thought he had equalised but after a long delay referee Georgi Kabakov was advised to go to the pitchside monitor and he ruled Alexis Mac Allister had handled the ball, even though it had initially bounced up off his chest very early in the move for the goal.

And there was more frustration for the German after the game, with his press conference being held in a tent next to where jubilant and noisy Toulouse fans were filtering out of the stadium. As a result, Klopp and the French interpreter could barely be heard amid chaotic scenes.

“We were about as organised as this press conference!” fumed Klopp. “Who’s decision was it to hold the press conference here? That would be a really interesting question. Wow.”

Klopp’s rant attracted criticism on social media, with one fan quipping: “He's a cry baby. Hold that Jurgen Flopp.” Another said: “Moaning again after a defeat…” A third scorned: “Deflecting as usual… stay on topic. What happened to ‘Loserpool’ tonight?”

Klopp could just about be heard giving his verdict on the night’s biggest talking point, his side’s disallowed equaliser.

“I only saw the video back now and for me it’s not a handball – but how can I decide that?” said Klopp. “Actually, I am a bit more concerned about [the fact that] I would have loved us to have played better, to be honest. That’s my main issue tonight.

‌“When you concede three goals, you need to score a lot of goals to still win. Actually, we conceded five, didn’t we, but two were not allowed.

‌“Obviously that nearly happened that we got a point. That would have made the game better and would have felt better in the table. But I would still say the game – we have to accept it. It was deserved.”
