Glen Kamara reveals Celtic secret agent behind Rangers exit as Leeds United star addresses 'f*****' Ibrox end
The Finland international has found top form at Elland Road with his new club chasing promotion.
Glen Kamara has lifted the lid on his move from Rangers to Leeds United - admitting that former Celtic star Teemu Pukki offered key advice in his Ibrox exit.
The midfielder was frozen out by Michael Beale during the latter days of his time at Ibrox as he trained alone while he searched for a new club last summer - having struggled for regular game time under the Londoner after he took over at the Scottish Premiership giants. He is now finding his feet in the English Championship under Daniel Farke - with Kamara turning to Pukki for the inside track on a boss he worked with at Norwich City.
Speaking to The Official Leeds United podcast, Kamara admitted he suffered an early reality check when he made the move, having struggled for minutes with Rangers last term. The 28-year-old said: "The first couple of weeks it was quite hard. I was just getting my fitness back and I hadn't played a lot. I was kind of training on my own away from Rangers, so it was quite tough. But it's good now and I'm feeling settled."
The Finland star then lifted the lid on who instigated the move - giving a shout-out international teammate Pukki for his role in the deal for his insight on Elland Road boss Farke. He went on: "Yeah, he messaged me as well, everyone does their due diligence at all of the clubs. He messaged me and had a word with me.
"He only had good things to say about the manager. I was like okay, I'm excited and after I spoke to the manager, it just confirmed what he [Pukki] said."
Pressed on if the best was still to come from him at Leeds, Kamara called back to the struggles in his final days at Ibrox. He went on: "Yeah, with more game time and that. Like I said I had quite a f***** up pre-season in itself and I feel like I am getting back to myself and playing more games than I have over the last year."
