Dele delivers determined fitness message as Everton midfielder continues comeback
Everton midfielder Dele shared a defiant message with fans as he used the international break to build on his fitness as he pushes for a comeback from a long-term injury.
Dele is yet to make an appearance this season as he fights to recover from a groin issue that required surgery in the summer.
It remains unclear whether he will be available by Christmas but the 27-year-old has made progress behind the scenes at Finch Farm, where his approach has made an impression on Blues boss Sean Dyche.
His determination to get back on the pitch has seen him travel to the Middle East to undergo warm weather training in Dubai this week. The former Tottenham Hotspur player shared images of him doing fitness drills out on training pitches and a shot of him in a gym on his Instagram page. The pictures were accompanied by the caption: “It’s not over until I win.”

James Garner grasps Lee Carsley advice to cement Everton position
Lee Carsley has been keeping tabs on James Garner's progress with Everton.
Garner was a key part of the England U21 side that won the Euros in the summer, managed by former Everton midfielder Carsley. Since the start of the new season, the 22-year-old has been a virtual ever-present for Sean Dyche's side, much to the delight of the Young Lions boss.
"I still keep an eye on all of the players. We’ve got eight or nine that are playing really well at their clubs and are moving in the right direction," Carsely said. "I make it clear to all of the players that I’m there for them if they need anything, if they need a chat or if they need an ear to listen, I’m there for them.”

Paul Tait on Everton U21 midfield options
Everton Under-21 boss Paul Tait has explained how Jenson Metcalfe has evolved into a more forward-thinking midfielder this season.
The young Blues have been forced into a midfield rethink after losing both Luke Butterfield and Tyler Onyango to injury, but Tait's squad has been boosted by the return of Sean McAllister. Speaking about the decision to move Metcalfe further forward, Tait explained the tactical tweak to Everton's club website:
“That was our idea, really. When Luke (Butterfield) came back into the team, we decided to move Jenson further forward. I think Luke’s natural position is the six – he’s very good at that both in and out of possession. Whether we’ve got a single pivot or a double pivot, he’s very good in that position."
“In that midfield – I know Luke and Tyler (Onyango) are out – but we’ve had some of the younger lads come in, and we want five, six, seven players challenging for those three places in there," Tait added. "That can only be good for the boys individually, and for the team.”

Dele delivers determined fitness message
Dele Alli has shared an update on his plans for the international break as he targets a return to the Everton side.
The midfilelder is making his way back from a groin injury that required surgery in the summer but has been progressing at Finch Farm.
During the pause in Premier League action, the England international has headed to the Middle East for a warm weather training camp as he continues to work on his recovery.

Everton have perfect chance to stop the rot
There's no need for Everton fans to panic. Not yet, anyway.
The form book admittedly doesn't make for pleasant reading for the Blues who, in the last week, have suffered back-to-back defeats against Manchester United and Chelsea. On Sunday, goals from Jessie Fleming, Sam Kerr and Aggie Beever-Jones - who spent last season on loan at Everton - secured what, on the face of it, was a routine victory for Emma Hayes' perennial winners.
But, not for the first time this season, the result wasn't reflective of the Blues' performance. Even Hayes conceded magnanimously after the game Everton had been unlucky to go into half-time a goal down.
"I think we put in the best that we can bring at the moment," Sorensen reflected in his post-match press conference. "We should have at least been level with them in the first half, if we shouldn’t be leading."

Neville Southall heaps praise on Jordan Pickford
Everton and England number one Jordan Pickford will be aiming to add to his 56 caps during the latest international break.
Pickford has been first choice for Gareth Southgate since the 2018 World Cup and his perofrmances for club and country have earned plenty of praise from Everton legend Neville Southall., who spoke to the club website:
"I think the responsibility Pickford has taken on is great and I don’t think anyone is better than him for England. That position is 90 per cent mental and 10 per cent physical. So he’s getting better and he’s doing a really good job.
"Obviously, he’s good under pressure when he plays for England because, I think, if you’re English it’s a totally different ball game. Give me a better goalie than him in England who’s English.
"To play 250 games at Everton is obviously good, and as a goalkeeper, you live and die by your decisions. Let’s be honest, if you look at those 250 games, he’s made a lot of right ones and I think he will get even better with experience."

Arnaut Danjuma names toughest player in Everton training
Everton forward Arnaut Danjuma has made a positive impact for the Blues since signing on loan from Villarreal.
It is a sign of the healthy competiiton for places within Sean Dyche's squad that the Dutch forward has found himself on the bench in recent weeks. However, Danjuma has admitted that one player in particular is the most difficult to face in training:
"Amadou Onana. He’s like an octopus," Danjuma told the Premier League's YouTube Channel.

Sean Dyche proven right as Everton learn important lesson
Sean Dyche has been proven right after urging Evertonians to keep the faith earlier this season.
Everton signed off for the international break with a 3-2 victory over Crystal Palace. It was far from a vintage display, at times, but it was the Toffees' fifth win in eight games across all competitions.
“That’s the most pleasing thing for me.," Dyche said. "We didn’t play as well as I’d have hoped with the ball today but our shape was good along with our belief and commitment to winning a game. That’s such a big weapon to have in the Premier League and I can’t exaggerate that enough. I’ve told the players: ‘I know you’ve got talent’ but the work ethic for each other is growing all the time.”
Here's what the stats say about Everton's recent displays

Dele's warm weather training
It appears Dele's recovery from injury has taken him to Dubai during this international break.
Whilst there is no Premier League football on for another week or so, the 27-year-old is working on his fitness in the hope of making a swift return to action.
Under normal circumstances he would be immersed in Sean Dyche's project with the rest of the squad at Finch Farm, despite not yet being able to play a part.
Samuel Iling-Junior eyed
TEAMtalk believe that England Under-21 international Samuel Iling-Junior is destined to leave Juventus in the January transfer window and has four clubs from his home country waiting in line for his signature.
Everton are one such club, alongside Tottenham, Aston Villa and Fulham. One small advantage is the 20-year-old will be a part of the Young Lions team playing at Goodison Park on Tuesday, therefore will be getting a real taste of the Blues' home under the lights ahead of a potential move.

Everton could be 'one £20m deal' from danger but 777 Partners want to change transfer plan
In the concluding segment of a two-part special, ECHO Everton reporter Chris Beesley explores the methods carried out by Mladen Sormaz’s football analytics team at 777 Partners and how they could supplement the work already being done in-house by the Blues at Finch Farm in one of the game’s increasingly important sectors.

Doucoure thanks Evertonians for support
Abdoulaye Doucoure has vowed to repay Everton supporters for the unwavering support they offered him and opened up about the growing confidence in his side.
Doucoure was told to train on his own in the final week of Frank Lampard’s tenure as manager and was overlooked for a defeat by West Ham United after a dressing-room row. The game would be Lampard’s last in charge of the Goodison Park club.
However, the midfielder has been a revelation since the appointment of Sean Dyche in January and played a key role in helping to preserve the club’s top-flight status last season. His goal against Bournemouth on the final day prevented relegation to the Sky Bet Championship.
The Mali international has been an ever-present for Dyche so far this season, playing in an advanced role in a five-man midfield, and saw his impressive form rewarded with a new deal until June 2025 earlier this month.
"At the moment, things feel great," he told evertontv. "We know this season we wanted to change things compared to the last two seasons.
“We are going the right way, but we want to keep going. I feel the love here, I am very happy. I committed last week to a new contract with the club, so obviously I am more than happy to stay here.
“I love the fans, the way they look at me and love me. I just want to repay that back and give everything for the club."
Blues tried to swoop for Juventus prodigy
Everton reportedly tried to sign Samuel Iling-Junior in the summer but were unable to prise him away from Juventus.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, both the Blues and Aston Villa were interested in the England under-21 international with the Turin side 'open to parting ways'.
It has been claimed that there wasn't any good opportunities presented.
Iling-Junior, who signed for Juventus after nine years at Chelsea, is said to be looking for first-team opportunities in January.
