Manchester United's 19 John Murtough signings as exit draws nearer
Manchester United's director of football John Murtough is heading for the exit door as the Sir Jim Ratcliffe era edges ever closer

Following CEO Richard Arnold's exit from Manchester United last week, another top level departure from the club is now on the horizon.
MEN Sport understands director of football John Murtough is the latest boardroom member whose days are now numbered. A senior source was adamant Murtough is on the way out as the Reds arrival edges nearer.
The INEOS founder is set to acquire a 25 per cent stake in United during the international break after reaching a deal with the Glazers. This share in the Reds is believed to allow him free reign of the football project at Old Trafford.

Since Arnold's departure, scepticism surrounding Murtough's future has grown with names including; Dougie Freedman, Paul Mitchell and Paolo Maldini linked with replacing him. The former director of development at Everton is unlikely to be the last exit behind the scenes either with INEOS believed to be unimpressed with other departmental strategies.
As his relatively brief era at the club comes to an end, MEN Sport wanted to take a look at all of the signings from Murtough's time in the director of football hotseat. After beginning the role in March 2021, the 52-year-old has overseen five transfer windows for two different managers.
In that time, the Reds made 19 signings on either a permanent or loan agreement and while the jury is still out on some, others have already departed Old Trafford for pastures new.
Take a look at all of the signings from Murtough's time at the club below.

There was high expectations on Varane and for the most part he has delivered. Injuries have been a constant issue though and he is currently playing second fiddle to Harry Maguire.

Coming in as an experienced backup to the first choice players, Heaton has become a popular dressing room figure
