Ross McCausland attracts Rangers transfer interest as Brentford consider cut-price move for Ibrox starlet

The teenager's deal is up in the summer and he could head to England for a snip.

Brentford are keeping a close eye on Ross McCausland’s Rangers contract situation.

The new Northern Ireland international is currently in talks with the Ibrox side over a new deal. The 19-year-old is out of contract in the summer but if an extension isn’t agreed then he could move cross-border for as little as around £300,000 in training compensation. Brentford are aware of that and that would be a drop in the ocean for the English Premier League side who have shown they are always prepared to take a gamble on young talent in the transfer market.

Rangers, however, want to get a new deal done quickly and negotiations are on-going. McCausland is a Rangers fan and has waited patiently for his chance with his boyhood heroes. He was brought into the first-team when Steven Davis was put in interim charge following Michael Beale's exit and since then his career hasn’t looked back.

McCausland has remained a permanent fixture in Philippe Clement’s first-team squad and started his first match against Livingston before the international break. He was then called up to the Northern Ireland squad for the first time and made his debut against Finland last week.

McCausland is also in the squad for tonight’s Euro qualifier with Denmark.
