Manchester United will reportedly make an approach to Thomas Muller if his Bayern Munich contract is not renewed.

The one-club man has won 16 major honours with the German giants having come through their youth system, tallying 237 goals and 261 assists in 680 senior matches across 14 years. He is hoping to be a part of the Germany squad at next year’s home Euros in what may well be his final major international tournament.

The 34-year-old is expected to carry on his club career, although might be without a club by then with his Bayern contract up in the summer. The 12-time Bundesliga champion and 2014 World Cup winner is being eyed by current staff at United, according to BILD.

Muller has had a reduced role under Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel and may look elsewhere if he cannot be guaranteed a prominent role upon a renewal. That said, United’s supposed interest could change.

A number of the club hierarchy could lose their jobs as Sir Jim Ratcllife considers a shake-up at boardroom level. Richard Arnold is to leave his role as CEO in the coming month while John Murtough is set to be replaced as football director.

United have been criticised for their transfer ploy in recent seasons having shelled out big sums for ageing players such as Casemiro and Raphael Varane.

Meanwhile, Tuttomercatoweb says Juventus are not only eyeing Jadon Sancho, but also Varane and Donny van de Beek. Sancho is expected to be loaned out in January amid his fallout with Erik ten Hag and the Italians said to be leading the race.

They could also dive for either Van de Beek or Varane if given the chance, the report suggests. Ten Hag said on Friday he has no intentions to sell Varane despite contrary speculation amid his starting XI omissions. Meanwhile, Van de Beek has hinted he may have to leave Old Trafford in order to get the game time he wants after making just to substitute appearances this term.
