'Keep them coming!' - Juan Mata's title joy as ex-Manchester United team-mate David de Gea reacts

The Spanish midfielder failed to win a single league title in eight years at Man United but has since won two in six months since leaving Old Trafford

Former Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata joked he wanted to keep the trophies coming after winning his second league title in six months over the weekend.

Mata lifted the J.League trophy on Saturday after his Vissel Kobe side beat Nagoya Grampus 2-1. The title was confirmed with one game of the season remaining after Yokohama F. Marinos, their only remaining challengers, drew 0-0 against Niigata on Friday.

The 35-year-old has made just one appearance for Kobe since joining in September, replacing former international teammate Andres Iniesta as the big-name star. He spent the previous season at Galatasaray, where he won the Turkish Super Lig title.

Mata was a more regular feature in Istanbul, registering three goals and an assist in 16 league games. But despite being on the periphery in Japan, he enjoyed title celebrations once again.

And after celebrating the title win, Mata wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "Wasn’t able to win a domestic league in fifteen years and now two in six months. Keep them coming!"

Former United teammate David de Gea was among the replies to Mata's celebrations, simply posting two emojis of a trophy and a heart. The Spanish pair spent eight years together at United between 2014 and 2022.

Mata signed a one-year deal at Kobe in September, meaning he will likely continue playing next season and beyond his 36th birthday, which comes in April.
