Ross McCausland pens new Rangers deal as starlet commits long-term future to Ibrox club

It's a huge boost for boss Philippe Clement who has fended-off interest from elsewhere to tie the starlet down to a new deal.

McCausland, 20, has been given his first team shot at Rangers following Clement's arrival as manager in October.

And he certainly hasn't looked back.

Having made his debut for the top team in May 2022, he had to bide his time to get a proper opportunity.

But that has come following Clement's arrival, and he's now racked up seven first team appearances this season.

McCausland's impact hasn't gone unnoticed and after being named man of the match in his first start, in a 2-0 win at Livingston, he earned international honours.

He was handed his first senior Northern Ireland cap in the Euro 2024 qualifier against Finland.

McCausland's contract was due to expire at the end of this season but he's now committed his long term future to Rangers.

He's penned an extension that will see him stay at Ibrox until 2027.

It's a huge boost for manager Clement who stated his desire to keep the young winger at the club.

Rangers faced losing him for a compensation fee of just around £350,000 if a new contract hadn't been agreed.

English Premier League outfit Brentford as well as Serie A giants Roma had been credited with an interest signing him.

But it's Rangers who have won the battle and McCausland will be sticking around for the long haul.
