Premier League fans have taken to social media to express their shock as Stuart Attwell allowed Bernd Leno to stay on the pitch despite receiving a knee to the face from Luis Diaz.
The pair collided, with Leno's right eye appearing to shut after the incident.
However, he played on before Alexis Mac Allister netted a sensational strike against him to restore Liverpool's lead in the first half.
Fans have since taken to social media to discuss the decision from the referee, as many believe that he should have been forced off.
'How is Leno still allowed to be on the pitch with one functioning eye?' asked one fan.

Bernd Leno was allowed to stay on the pitch despite receiving a knee to the face from Luis Diaz

The incident happened in the first half, with the goalkeeper allowed to continue

After receiving treatment, Leno was back up but had a clear swollen eye
Several other supporters agreed with the sentiment, with one attempting to reach out to Fulham and the FA on X.
They wrote: Leno should be taken off.
'He is having early panda eye sign of the right eye. He needs to be evaluated in a hospital with appropriate scans needed.'
Another fan couldn't believe what he was witnessing, saying: 'How have the officials let Leno play on there? He can’t see out of his right eye!'
Leno was urged to rest by a Tottenham fan, who was watching the game before his side face Manchester City.

'Leno can't even open his right eye just rest bro,' he wrote.
Another felt sympathy for the goalkeeper as he said: 'I pity Leno. He's using eye to keep shots away from Mac Allister, Szobo and Trent!'
However, not everyone was as concerned for the Fulham shot-stopper as a Liverpool fan urged his side to take advantage of the goalkeeper's struggle.
'Need Mo and braid Darwin to score, they said.
'Leno has one eye there’s no excuses.'
Marco Silva will no doubt be questioned about the decision to keep his goalkeeper on the pitch.
