EDDIE HOWE is hoping that Jamaal Lascelles has not become the latest player to join Newcastle United’s seemingly endless injury list.
Lascelles hobbled off in the final few minutes of this evening’s 3-0 defeat at Everton after going down and receiving treatment on a leg injury.
The centre-half was unable to continue beyond the 89th minute, when he was replaced by Emil Krafth, but Howe is hoping he has only suffered a dead leg.

Assuming that is the case, Newcastle’s skipper should be able to retain his place in the starting line-up at Tottenham on Sunday.
Howe said: “I don’t think it’s a serious one with Jamaal – I think it’s a dead leg.
“It was a knock to his thigh I think – fingers crossed, he’ll be okay (for the weekend), although I don’t know at this moment.”
None of Newcastle’s injured players were able to return to the squad for tonight’s defeat on Merseyside, which saw the Magpies run out of steam as they conceded three goals in the final 11 minutes of the game.
It remains to be seen whether anyone is available to come back into the side at Spurs at the weekend, although Howe revealed that a number of the injury absentees were working at the training ground on Tyneside earlier today.
Howe said: “I don’t really know how things are. A lot of the players that are injured at the moment were working today at the training ground. We’re hopeful that we can get some support.”
