Legia Warsaw ultras draw Rangers inspiration from Pedro Caixinha as infamous quote appears in mega tifo
The Portuguese dropped talked of barking dogs and caravans in Glasgow and it's appeared again in Europe.
Legia Warsaw fans' European tifo has brought a throwback to Pedro Caixinha's infamous Rangers quote.
The Polish club's passionate ultras occupy themselves in a Northern Stand at the Stadion Wojska Polskiego - also known as Zyleta. It is famed for spectacular tifos and the latest was unveiled as they faced off against Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar in their Europa Conference League group stage finale.
It comes off the back of away fans being banned from Legia's next five European games on the road, which has prompted a response from the fanatical fans, after incidents outside their game at Villa Park against Aston Villa. Surrounded by an abundance of flares, a smiling Legia figure is reading a newspaper as part of the tifo which holds a pointed message. It reads: "It's time to ban Legia. The dogs bark, but the caravan moves on." And that has sparked a direct throwback to Caixinha's time at Rangers.
The Portuguese boss lasted less than a year in a bonkers reign when not much went right for the 53-year-old in 2017. But one of the things he is remembered for most in Glasgow is when he baffled reporters with a Portuguese saying amid growing discontent. But Legia fans seemingly chime with what the former Ibrox man meant six years ago.
Caixinha said: “I always felt the support of the fans in the stadium. What I need to tell you, and it’s a Portuguese saying, ‘the dogs bark and the caravan keeps going’.
"That means that we are focused in our work. We are all together in the same direction. So we are the ones that know what direction we are going and the fans are supporting us.”
