And his half volley against Rangers in the 2-1 win in 2008 is remembered as one of his greatest ever goals.

The Japanese international spent four years in Glasgow under Gordon Strachan before a short stint in Spain.

And a return to his homeland has saw him continue playing the game until age 45.

But although his body may be slowing down, he is still scoring those iconic free kicks.

Nakamura netted SIX times in his last ever match, THREE of which were from direct free kicks.

Yokohama FC Friends took on J-Dreams where the former Celtic man played 45 minutes for either side.

He beat the keeper twice with free kicks from outside the box along with a powerful right footed finish to help his side to a 3-1 lead at half time.

And he switched sides at the break, returning to the field to score another three goals from outside the box including another free kick.

The game finished 3-6 as Nakamura led his second half side to victory.

He was presented with flowers from both sets of players to commemorate his illustrious career.

He won six trophies during his time with Celtic, including three Premiership titles.

And he scooped up the player of the year awards in the 06/07 season, won goal of the season that same year and was named in the team of the season.

He became the first Japanese player to score in the Champions League during a 3-2 defeat to Manchester United.

And he recently spoke about the Hoops' current Japanese players during the squad's summer visit to Asia.

He said at the time: “I take a lot of pride seeing all the Japanese players at Celtic.

“The biggest thing for me about the club is having the chance to play in the Champions League gain.

“That is why Ange Postecoglou, the previous manager, signed these players.

“He believes they could all play on the biggest stage.

“It’s very good for them individually, but it’s also great for Japanese football. I am not surprised they have been successful in Scotland.

“They are some of the top players in the J.League.

“I know because I played against them! They are excellent players.

“It’s never easy, and it’s great that they have achieved solid performances under quite a lot of pressure, with having so many Japanese players in the team.
