Akanji starts with Lewis in midfield - Man City predicted line-up vs Urawa Red Diamonds

Manchester City are in the Middle East this week as they bid to create history in the FIFA Club World Cup.

City managed to secure themselves a place in the prestigious tournament after winning the UEFA Champions League and are now set to take on champions from across the globe. As this is the Blues' debut in the competition, they have never won the Club World Cup.

However, Pep Guardiola has a good history with the tournament having lifted it on three occasions - twice with Barcelona and once with Bayern Munich. His experience could therefore be key in Saudi Arabia as the Blues aim to forget their worries in the Premier League.

Ahead of the game, MEN Sport has predicted how City will line up.

Goalkeeper - Stefan Ortega

City will play two matches this week whether they beat Urawa Red Diamonds or not. You would expect goalkeeping duties to be split between the games meaning Ortega is perhaps most likely to line up for the semi-final.

Defenders - Kyle Walker, Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji, Nathan Ake

Guardiola has continued to experiment with Josko Gvardiol at left-back but, in a bid to win this tournament, he may want to revert to a time-tested approach by playing Ake there instead. A drop to the bench entirely could be in the offing with Akanji moved into the centre to partner Dias.

Midfielders - Rico Lewis, Rodri

Lewis would be unfortunate if he is dropped following a goal against Crystal Palace. Rodri is Guardiola's favourite so he is unlikely to be sent to the bench.

However, should City aim to rotate, we could see Kalvin Phillips given a run-out in this semi-final.

Forwards - Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Julian Alvarez

Kevin De Bruyne took part in training on Monday but this game is likely to be too soon for his return. The same goes for Jeremy Doku and Erling Haaland so options are limited in attack.

We can expect to see City unchanged in the forward areas with Alvarez hoping he can cause the Japanese team some problems up top.
