Ben Godfrey to stay at Goodison?

Everton are reportedly in talks with Ben Godfrey over extending his stay at Goodison Park.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur and, according to TeamTalk, the Blues are hoping to tie the defender down to a new deal.

Godfrey made his first start of the Premier League season against Burnley last weekend and impressed.

He has just 18 months left on his current deal.

Your evening Everton headlines

Here are your Everton evening headlines for tonight:

Analysis of Everton's penalty heartbreak against Fulham

There were just over 15 minutes on the clock when the first groan of the night from the Everton crowd came.

James Tarkowski had just misplaced a pass, and Blues supporters inside Goodison Park could not help but let their frustration show. It was a sign of things to come.

Although it should be pointed out that those inside Goodison did rise as one and let out one mighty roar when Beto headed past Bernd Leno.

Every Everton player had same answer after Fulham match ended

Every Everton player said they were willing to take a penalty in the shootout that ultimately ended in heartbreak, Sean Dyche said.

The Blues boss revealed his squad had practised spot kicks before each round of the Carabao Cup, leaving assistant manager Steve Stone with a dossier of stats should they be needed.

But for all the preparation that had taken place, Dyche said his selection was defined by the players’ reaction to his first question on the final whistle: “Who does not want to take penalty?”

Everton claimed to have £100m Jarrad Branthwaite valuation

Everton have reportedly looked to shut down interest in Jarrad Branthwaite.

The centre-back has been a standout star for Sean Dyche's side this season and has been touted for an England call-up in the near future.

Branthwaite is claimed to be a 'target' for Premier League duo Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as Borussia Dortmund, with the three clubs all said to have 'scouted' the 21-year-old.

As a result, inews have reported that Everton would demand £100m for the defender in order to deter any interested parties in the England U21 international, who signed a new long-term deal in October.

The report adds that the Blues are 'not under pressure' to sell Branthwaite, despite still awaiting approval for 777 Partners' prospective takeover.

Man United and Barcelona 'interested' in Amadou Onana

Everton midfielder Amadou Onana is claimed to be a target for both Barcelona and Manchester United.

The 22-year-old has been in impressive form for Sean Dyche's side this season, with the Belgian international thriving as part of the Toffees' midfield.

His performances have seemingly attracted 'interest' from both Man United and Barcelona, according to Foot Mercato. However, the report claims that the Spanish club have moved one step further and been in 'contact' with Onana's representatives.

A January exit is regarded as 'unlikely', though, with Onana under contract until 2027 and Everton thought to be demanding around €55m (£47m).

Villarreal 'seriously' consider recalling Arnaut Danjuma

Villarreal reportedly 'does not rule out' the possibility of recalling Arnaut Danjuma from his Everton loan spell.

The Dutch winger sealed a move to the Toffees in the summer and has made 12 appearances for Sean Duche's side but has not started a league game since September.

Spanish outlet Cadena SER has claimed that the prospect of Danjuma returning to his parent club next month is 'being seriously discussed' by Villarreal. The La Liga side are expected to bring in a winger, amid a serious injury to Yeremi Pino and Ben Brereton Diaz's struggles for form, and have Danjuma under contract until 2026.

In his debut season for Villarreal, Danjuma recorded 20 goal contrubutions during the 2021/22 campaign but has since struggled for regular minutes in two Premier League loan spells.

777 Partners sporting director makes Everton transfer claim

777 Partners' global sporting director Johannes Spors has clarified his recents comments about Everton.

In a recent interview with The Telgraph, Spors said that the Toffees would be the "missing link" in their group of clubs, hinting that Everton could be the team to sign both Standard Liege and Hertha Berlin's best players. However, Spors has since played down this suggestion.

“We don’t force transfers, the clubs do very independent squad planning,” Spors said, as reported by Bild. “But if the need meets the possibility of a transfer, we try to implement it, although it is always about the players’ individual career paths.”

Hertha's sporting director Benjamin Weber has also doubled down and insisted that the German side will not be a steeping stone to the Premier League:

“Hertha BSC is neither a farm team nor do we have to worry about our talents. The dialogue with 777 Partners and its clubs is good, constructive and intentional. Meaningful synergies are created. The coordination and exchange in the areas of analysis, performance and player development as well as data evaluation help us a lot and take place on a trusting and cooperative level.”

Rivals make appointment

There has been some movement from one of Everton's rivals below them in the Premier League table.

Nottingham Forest, who currently trail the Blues by two points, have wasted no time after sacking manager Steve Cooper on Tuesday by appointing his successor this morning - Nuno Espirito Santo.

The former Wolves and Tottenham boss enters the club as they sit five points above the drop zone and winless since November 5, aiming to instill some defensive stability heading into the New Year.

Jamie Carragher's thoughts after watching Everton

Jamie Carragher shared his opinion after seeing last night's Carabao Cup action.

Both Everton vs Fulham and Chelsea vs Newcastle United went to a penalty shoot-out as the teams could not be separated. Under the competition's rules, the matches went straight to this method of deciding the outcome after the 90 minutes were played with no use of an additional 30 minutes of play in between.

Upon reflection, the former Liverpool player posted: "#EVEFUL & #CHENEW straight to pens with no extra time, is a much better spectacle than an extra 30 mins of football when players are shattered & terrified of making a mistake. No more extra time in any competitions please."

Agree with the pundit on this one? Or should football stick to its traditional ways?

Jack Harrison transfer hint

Part of Everton's recent run of good form in the Premier League has been the involvement of Jack Harrison after his recovery from injury in September - the man has been present on every single matchday since.

He is on loan from Leeds United for the season with no hint what will happen beyond, however in footage that has emerged from the stands at the Blues' recent win against Burnley appears to show the winger's mother making her feelings known.

Too expletive to put into words, she responded to a fellow travelling supporter next to her that begged her son to remain at Goodison Park.

Abdoulaye Doucoure injury update as Everton deprived of top scorer for Tottenham

Last night's cup exit may be fresh on the mind so forgive us for bringing a dose of bad news to begin the day.

Sean Dyche provided an update on the fitness of top scorer Abdoulaye Doucoure after the penalty shoot-out - the midfielder was forced off at half-time last Saturday against Burnley - and it appears he will be out of action when the club travel to face Tottenham Hotspur in three days.

His subsitution was noted down as a precaution though he sat out last night, and will do so again on Saturday, therefore missing two matches in the build-up to Christmas. After that, the Blues face Man City in one week, so Dyche will be hoping to have one of his most important players back for then at least.
