Abdoulaye Doucoure is expected to miss Everton’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur with a hamstring injury.

The midfielder was withdrawn at half-time during his side’s win over Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.

That move was initially taken as a precaution and the 30-year-old was absent from the matchday squad as Everton lost in the Carabao Cup quarter-final to Fulham on penalties.

After the match, Dyche said Doucoure was not expected to be available for the trip to London, meaning he will be deprived of his top scorer and one of his most important players.

Asked whether Doucoure would be fit for the game with Spurs, Dyche said: “Probably not at the weekend but going forwards we are hopeful it settles down quickly. He is super fit and he is a good healer so we are hopeful it settles down quickly.”

Dyche welcomed Idrissa Gueye and Jarrad Branthwaite back from suspension on Tuesday night but was still forced to shuffle his pack due to injury. As well as Doucoure, Seamus Coleman, Ashley Young and Vitalii Mykolenko were all absent from the matchday squad due to injuries. Branthwaite played at left-back as a result.

Asked whether there was a chance any of those players could be back for Spurs, Dyche said: “We’ll see. The next three days are going to be really important. We’ll make sure there is nothing from tonight, of course, because we are a bit stretched so we will see.”
