Marcus Rashford scores after huge Forest error as Man Utd fans say 'he's finally back'

The goal drought is finally over for Manchester United star Marcus Rashford.

The England forward was back in Erik ten Hag's XI for the trip to Nottingham Forest on Saturday and repaid the manager's faith with a first Premier League goal since November. However, he may not have had the chance were it not for an assist from Forest stopper Matt Turner.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Turner was guilty of making a few misplaced matches throughout the clash at City Ground. But one in particular had dire consequences after Alejandro Garnacho pounced to intercept before teeing up Rashford for a much-needed finish.

It was still far from a straightforward finish near the edge of the box. However, Rashford made it look as such with a well-placed side of the foot nestling in the far corner of the goal.

After assisting in the comeback win over over Aston Villa last time out, the United academy product continued his return to form by ending a run of six games without a goal. That's still not as bad as his 12-game run without a goal near the start of this season, though a firing Rashford is always welcome at Old Trafford.

He was promoted back to a starting role on Saturday as a replacement for Rasmus Hojlund. Despite scoring his first Premier League goal in the comeback win over Villa, the young Dane was deemed unfit to face Forest due to illness.

Turner was unsurprisingly left seething with himself - or perhaps his defenders - after losing his clean sheet. But fans had little sympathy for the United States international, who was criticised for not simply clearing the ball altogether.

Not that it counted for much in the end, however, as Morgan Gibbs-White put the hosts back ahead following Nicolas Dominguez's opener. The result marked Nuno Espirito Santo's second win in as many outings after being appointed Forest boss in December.

Forest lost their debut under Nuno in a dramatic 3-2 defeat at home to Bournemouth but have since backed that up with successive wins over Newcastle and United. The Portuguese tactician left the Premier League with his reputation in tatters following a disastrous spell with Tottenham but has wasted no time lifting Forest away from the relegation fight.
