Under-fire Barry Robson says SORRY to Aberdeen supporters and admits ‘it’s the angriest I’ve ever been’

It was a return to form for delighted Stephen Robinson

UNDER-FIRE Barry Robson apologised to Aberdeen’s fans for their shocking loss to St Mirren.

The Buddies left Pittodrie 3-0 winners - and the winning margin would have been wider had Mark O’Hara scored a first-half penalty.

Robson took abuse from supporters as the goals rained in and revealed he was the angriest he’s ever been with his team in the dressing-room afterwards.

He said: “The pressure is always on me but I’m not thinking about that.

“I’m thinking about getting these players performing the way they should be.

“I’m angry because that’s not good enough and I have to apologise to the fans.

“I won’t accept that and I know they won’t accept that.

“It’s definitely the angriest I’ve been.

“It wasn’t good enough all over the pitch.

“As I said to the players, you can’t serve that up and we’re a lot better than that.

“We didn’t pick up second balls and were not good enough in both boxes.

“It surprised me, I didn’t see it coming - it really surprised me.

“But no excuses, there’s no excuse and I’m not having that.

“I told the players you can’t serve that up.

“Not every game is going to be perfect so you’ve got to win your duels and do the basics right.

“We didn’t do that today.

“That’s not me taking much away from St Mirren and Stephen, because they performed well.

“But what makes me angry is that we didn’t perform.”

Robson switched formations from his usual 3 at the back but insists the shape of his side wasn’t the issue.

And he’s demanding a huge response against Ross County on Tuesday.

He said: “We changed [formation] and that didn’t help us.

“It’s not about tactics and formations, we were not good enough all over the pitch.

“The players need to come out with a reaction in the next game.

“We need to start winning games, whatever way we do it.

“We need to go and win the next game.

“It shouldn’t be hard to get them back up for the next game.

“I expect them to be flying out of the box, that’s what's expected of them.”

Thrilled St Mirren gaffer Stephen Robinson saw his side get back to form after back-to-back losses - and insisted they could have scored more.

He said: “It has been coming, we have had some very good performances.

“It could have been more.

“Today we had a very good defensive performance and were clinical at the other end.

“We never stopped believing, we’re a positive group.”
