Tottenham Hotspur FC or Injuries FC?
Every game, Ange Postecoglou has to deal with an injury or a suspension to one of his Tottenham Hotspur players.
During Spurs’ 3-1 win over Bournemouth, goalscorer Pape Matar Sarr added his name to that list when he was forced off injured in the first half.
Just moments before, the £15 million signing had opened the scoring for his team when he pounced on a mistake from Bournemouth, drove forward and then stuck the ball into the back of the net.
Ian Wright stated that he was ‘sad’ for Pape Matar Sarr and he is hoping he will be fit with the Africa Cup of Nations around the corner, as he told Premier League Productions (31/12/23 at 3:05 pm).
The Senegal international, as he walked off the pitch, was in tears and clearly distressed that he couldn’t continue the game with Son Heung-min counselling him.
The extent of his injury isn’t yet known, but given that he walked off, he will be hoping it’s something he can shake off in these coming days.
“We have seen a lot of this, goalkeepers trying to play out when it’s not on,” said Wright about Sarr’s goal.
“I can’t understand how he (Sarr) has got so many touches and then to get his shot off. Nobody is coming towards him. Very surprising from Bournemouth, but well done to him.
On Sarr’s injury: “This is sad for him. He has got the AFCONs, depending on how bad it is, he might miss that. Hopefully, he will be alright.”

Tottenham back to winning ways
Well, as Spurs recorded all three points against Bournemouth, their bitter rivals Arsenal dropped even more points.
Mikel Arteta watched his team fall to a 2-1 defeat at Fulham, which means that fifth-placed Spurs are only one point behind their neighbours.
It also means that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, who will kick off the New Year by hosting Newcastle United, have the chance to extend their lead at the top.
As of this moment, Jurgen Klopp’s side are level on points with second-placed Aston Villa, with only three points separating first and fifth.
