The Royals are understood to have knocked back the Rams' initial enquiry over Savage, 20, even though the League One side are in the midst of financial turmoil.

He joined Reading on permanent basis at the start of this season but is now being chased by rival League One side Derby, who are chasing promotion back into the Championship.
