‘Who’d have thought it?’ – Derek McInnes reacts to Rangers penalty as Boyd says people ‘will have nothing to talk about’

DEREK McINNES couldn't resist a light-hearted quip after his Kilmarnock side were the recipients of the first league penalty awarded against Rangers for almost two years.
The decision, taken by John Beaton on the advice of his video assistant referee Andrew Dallas, left his opposite number Philippe Clement confused about what exactly is a penalty for handball in the days after the row over a non-award of a spot kick against Celtic.
Former Ibrox star McInnes - speaking before he had seen the incident again - refused to get too much into specifics, but used the words 'who would have thought it?' as he summed up the incident.
The award leaves Rangers rivals' Celtic as the only Scottish Premiership side not to get a penalty awarded against them this season.
McInnes said: “I haven’t seen it again, but obviously their manager was adamant it wasn’t a handball.
"VAR has asked the referee to go and have a look at it, but it’s so subjective with handball.

"Whether it’s away from the body, the distance - that is always going to be the one VAR isn’t perfect on.
"We’re just delighted to get a penalty, and who’d have thought at Ibrox! It’s good to get one back, and it was game on.”
No-one has had more of a grievance about Rangers' remarkable penalty run than Celtic fans - but SunSport's Kris Body wondered 'where they do with that one now'.
He told SkySports: "Surprising enough, some people will have nothing to talk about.
