John Lundstram breaks silence on Rangers future as Ibrox ace ace opens up on new contract talks

The midfielder reckons there's 'no limit' to what Rangers can achieve under Philippe Clement

JOHN LUNDSTRAM has revealed he wants to agree a new deal and stay at Rangers.

The 29-year-old is out of contract in the summer.

The midfielder joined Rangers from Sheffield United, hitting the winner against RB Leipzig to send the Ibrox side through to the Europa League Final in 2022.

Lundstram has been pivotal under Philippe Clement - admitting last night he’s no desire to quit Glasgow.

Lunny said: “I’ve never shied away from saying how much I love the club and how much I’d love to stay.

“But it’s obviously between me and the club to sort something out.

“I hope that’s in the pipeline, of course but that’s between me and the club to sort out.

“But I would love to stay.”

Lundstram has been instrumental in Rangers’ rise under Clement.

After topping their Europa League group, Gers clinched the Viaplay Cup at Hampden last month.

Should they win their two games in hand, the Light Blues will close the gap on league leaders Celtic to just two points.

When asked how much the team has grown in recent months, Lundstram insisted: “I think it’s just there for everyone to see.

“There’s been loads of individual performances and collective ones.

“We’ve got players coming back in now as well.

“But the manager has touched on this himself, there’s still more to come I think.

“There’s still everything to play for.

“We’re obviously still in every competition.

“We’re fighting for the league, fighting for the Scottish Cup and we’re in the last 16 of the Europa League.

“There’s loads to fight for, loads to grow and we’re getting lads back from injury.

“If we can try to keep the injury count low then I’m sure we can fight on all fronts.

“Of course the belief is there that we can go far in these competitions.

“We’ve proved it in the past that we can go all the way in all of them, so there’s loads of belief in the squad.

“With the manager and this set of lads, there’s no limit.”

Rangers’ head into the winter break on the back of a hard fought 3-1 win over Kilmarnock.

It was the perfect response following defeat at Celtic Park in the Old Firm derby.

Lundstram said: “I thought we started really well. We were fast, aggressive but didn’t really get the goal that we wanted.

“They came back into the game a little bit after about half an hour, which was a bit frustrating.

“But you can’t dominate a game of football for every second of every minute, you know what I mean?. It’s tough to do.

“Respect to Killie for coming back into it. They rode the storm well and had a little spell for five minutes.

“But then we came back into it again for the last 10 minutes of the first half and got the two goals.
