Celtic star gives Nat Phillips bizarre Hoops send-off by posing in full Liverpool kit

Phillips has also said his own goodbye to Celtic

IT was a short stint as a Celtic player for Nat Phillips who quietly returned to Liverpool at the end of his loan spell this month.

And while he didn't make much on an impression on the pitch, an amusing tribute from a Parkhead teammate indicates he might have made quite a big one off of it!

Phillips, 26, was snapped up at the end of the transfer window as Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers dealt with an injury crisis in defence.

But he went on to start just a handful of matches and made eight appearances in total.

Phillips' final outing proved a rather disastrous one with his own goal sparking a Kilmarnock comeback as the Hoops fell to a 2-1 defeat at Rugby Park.

His short-term Celtic deal still had a few weeks left to run after that game on December 10 but he didn't make another appearance.

And when January struck, Phillips was back off to Liverpool and he's already been back at training with Jurgen Klopp's men.

Phillips took to Instagram to say goodbye to Celtic earlier this weekend, saying: "It was a pleasure and a privilege to represent @celticfc and their supporters.

"I wish everyone at the club all the best for the rest of the season and the future."

Several Hoops players took to the comments, one of whom was Alistair Johnston.

He said: "Will miss you caveman."

But that wasn't Johnston's only tribute to the towering central defender!

Over on his own Instagram, he posted a somewhat bizarre tribute to Phillips!

Johnston has jetted back across the Atlantic for the winter break but still took time out to say goodbye to his pal.

Taking to his Instagram stories, Johnston posted a snap of himself in FULL Liverpool kit - and it even had 'Phillips 47' printed on the back!

Johnston captioned the post: "Gone but never forgotten ❤️🍀 @nathaniel_phillips"
