Rangers fans relish Michy Batshuayi ‘catapult’ effect as Philippe Clement enters race for ex-Chelsea hitman

And there's a thumbs up from Turkey too

RANGERS attempts to sign Michy Batshuayi from Fenerbahce have been granted the seal of approval - from Gers fans AND those in Turkey.

We revealed in a Sunsport exclusive last night how Philippe Clement was preparing to enter talks with the Belgian striker.

A short-term deal is believed to be in the offing and moves could be made within the next 24 hours to take the ex-Chelsea striker to Gers' winter training camp in La Manga.

He boasts an international record better than a goal every second game and is on his way out of Fenerbahce with his deal expiring.

Everton have also been linked with a loan deal but Gers fans are hopeful he could be pulling on a different blue shirt when he does exit istanbul.

One said: "This guy would catapult us to league favourites."

Another added: "Short term deal makes me very open to this, less risk involved."

A third said: "No brainer for me, defo score goals for us."

Rangers' team is crying out for attacking options with Cyriel Dessers failing to convince and Danilo out injured along with Kemar Roofe.

Abdallah Sima's call up to Senegal's Africa Cup of Nations leave's Clement's front-line light - and Dessers has an outside chance of being called up by Nigeria too.

That makes the need for numbers - and quality - all the more important.

One other fan added: "People think he’s sh*** because he’s being punted. Guy's got a goal every other game in Turkey and has been coming off the bench."

A second replied: "Man has scored in France, Spain & England top flights, in the Euros & World Cups, and folk are turning their nose up at this. Let me dream."

And it's got the thumbs up from fans in Turkey too.

One replied to our exclusive story and said: "Rangers fans, listen to me! I watched your last Celtic match that you lost 2-1!

"Your striker Dessers missed two very good chances to score, if Batshuayi was in his place he would have scored at least one of those chances, and if he had been in shape (played some matches with Rangers to adapt to the team) he would have scored both goals!

"He is a striker just like Celtic striker Furuhashi, he is a pressing machine, and by running a lot like him but he is a little weaker in finishing."

Another added: "He is actually really good strong and hard working fella. You should also take Ryan Kent he is not getting used to here!"

Other options have been linked with Gers too though - including Lawrence Shankland.

And that factors into some fans' thinking.

One X.com user tweeted: "Would probably smash goals in for fun in Scotland. Wage demands just can't see it happening. Would rather invest in Shankland."

Another wrote: "Would be a great signing. Also think a 33-year-old Wissam Ben Yedder who’s coming out of contract in Monaco would also be a great signing. Both of them would score goals for fun here."
