Transfer news RECAP: Borussia Dortmund announce loan signing of Ian Maatsen from Chelsea, while the Blues have £52m bid for Benfica's Antonio Silva rejected

West Bromwich Albion are signing Andreas Weimann on loan from Bristol City in a deal that will see Taylor Gardner-Hickman go the other way on a permanent transfer.

Austria international Weimann, 32, has scored over 50 goals for Bristol City since joining from Derby County in 2018 and Carlos Corberan hopes his experience and goal threat can give his Albion side an extra cutting edge as they chase promotion.

Versatile defender Gardner-Hickman has been on loan from West Brom at Ashton Gate this season, making 23 appearances, and figured in their FA Cup draw with West Ham.

Wycombe Wanderers have signed a West Ham youngster on loan who just scored against them three days ago.

Long-term Wycombe target Gideon Kodua scored for the Hammers' U21 side in their Bristol Street Motors Trophy tie on Tuesday night.

Wycombe ultimately reached the next round of the EFL Trophy following a 2-1 victory, but the League One side were impressed enough to quickly make a move happen.

The Belgian midfielder arrived at the City Ground in the summer of 2022 as then-boss Steve Cooper set about preparing for his side's first season back in the Premier League.

Chelsea defender Ian Maatsen has signed a contract extension at the club and joined Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund on loan until the end of the season.

Maatsen, whose new deal will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2026, spent last campaign at Burnley but struggled for game time after returning to his parent club.

After making 15 appearances this term, albeit with less than 400 minutes in total under his belt, Maatsen has now been sent to Germany for more game time.

Joe Hugill has signed a new contract with Manchester United ahead of joining Burton Albion on loan for the season.

The striker has put pen to paper on a deal until 2026 at United with the option of a further year but will now continue his development with Martin Paterson at League One strugglers Burton.

Hugill, who signed from Sunderland in 2020, has been on the bench four times for United this season including for the FA Cup win at Wigan this week.
