Nicolas Kuhn ARRIVES for Celtic transfer as winger touches down with ex Rangers star to seal switch from Rapid Vienna

The German is set to become Brendan Rodgers' first signing of the January transfer window.

Nicolas Kuhn has touched down in Glasgow to put the final touches to his move to Celtic.

The Premiership champions have been in talks with Rapid Vienna over the former Ajax and Bayern Munich man. Brendan Rodgers has been keen to seal a deal for the 24-year-old and he looks set to get his way barring any last minute hiccups. Kuhn underwent a medical in London before making his way north to put pen to paper with the Hoops.


They have agreed a £2.8million fee with Rapid to secure Kuhn, who is expected to sign a four and a half year contract. He was met at Glasgow airport by Celtic officials before being whisked away to avoid the cameras complete the formalities at Celtic Park, where he could be announced as the club's latest addition later on Monday. Former Ibrox midfielder Christian Nerlinger is back in town with fellow representative Fabian Dingler to get things over the line.

Despite already having Luis Palma, Mikey Johnston, James Forrest and Yang at his disposal, Kuhn is being signed to improve the first team rather than pad the squad. Former Hearts star Thomas Flogel, who now manages in Austria with St Pollen II, reckons he'll add something special to Rodgers' pool.

He told Record Sport: "Kuhn came from Germany and he is a really talented player, one of the best players at Rapid Vienna this season. I know they haven’t had the best of seasons in the Austrian league but in my mind he was one of their more technical players.

"He is at his best when he gets one-on-one. He is a really fast player and likes to take defenders and opponents on. He is a really talented and his pace makes him really hard to play against and stop. When he is on his game he definitely worries defenders.”
