Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is set to start for Cameroon against Senegal on Friday after missing his country’s opening group game at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Onana was expected to be on the bench for Cameroon’s Group C draw against Guinea on Monday, but only got to the stadium three hours before kick-off after the private jet flying him from Manchester to Ivory Coast was diverted from Yamoussoukro to Abidjan due to fog.
It felt like an anti-climax after weeks of speculation over whether Onana would leave United to take part in AFCON, followed by the 27-year-old’s 5,000-mile dash after playing in Sunday’s Premier League game against Tottenham.
But Onana is in line to get his opportunity against Senegal which will also be played at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro.
Onana could miss up to four games for United if Rigobert Song’s side go all the way to the final on February 11 – or none if they go out at the group stage.

His No.2 Altay Bayindir is on stand-by to make his debut in the FA Cup fourth round tie away to Newport County a week on Sunday having yet to play since a £4.3million move from Fenerbahce in the summer.
Erik ten Hag also has Tom Heaton to consider, and Bayindir told MUTV: ‘All the goalkeepers, we are always positive. Of course, we are fighting [to be] on the pitch, because everyone wants to play with the team in the stadium.
‘We are fighting [to be the best] in the training and when we are going outside, we are best friends.
‘We have a good energy. It doesn’t matter who is playing, because we will, of course, support them every time.

‘Team spirit is very important, you know. If we are doing this, we can be successful in the game. I think if we’re always doing that, we can always go up.
‘It's not about just goalkeepers. All players have good heart and we are fighting for this great family always.’
