Philippe Clement has revealed he wanted Fabio Silva on a PERMANENT basis - as he names one of his big transfer aims at Ibrox.

The Belgian delivered a lengthy transfer address on Friday afternoon ahead of Saturday's Scottish Cup fourth round match with Dumbarton, which will be subject to a 1pm pitch inspection. So far, only Silva has signed on loan from Wolves until the end of the season and Clement was asked if things have progressed on one or more players in terms of the recruitment front.

Calvin Bassey was sold to Ajax for a club-record fee in 2022, but the boss admits one of his targets is making more money from outgoing stars, which he feels the club must improve in doing. He said: "We will see if it's one or more. We have a plan all together. The most important thing in this period is that everyone is aligned and the club want to make an effort to do things. It has to be inside of the budget. We are not the most wealthy club in the world, I know that.

"We want to get transfers in that can have an impact now but also added value for the next couple of years then selling them for bigger amounts because when you look back over the last couple of years this is one thing that we have missed.

"We didn't have big outgoing transfers to get money in to do other things so we need to get better in that. That's one of the targets.

"It's strange for a manager to talk about that but I know what the story is. I want to help in that way so the club can grow in every sense."

Clement has also admitted that the Silva deal was one he wanted completed on a permanent basis. The striker cost Wolves north of £30m when signing him from Porto and the finances for Rangers to buy him now were deemed too much.

He added when asked would he prefer to sign players on a permanent basis: "We will see what the situation is. I would prefer to buy Fabio but he was too expensive for the club so that's why it's a loan."
