Jamie Carragher makes Liverpool 'frustration' point amid Justin Kluivert tackle
Luis Diaz was on the receiving end of a tackle from Bournemouth forward Justin Kluivert and Jamie Carragher has weighed in on why will feel 'frustrated' at no red card being awarded
Jamie Carragher has explained why Liverpool will feel a red card should have been given for a challenge on Luis Diaz.
The Reds were facing Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday, in their first game back after the winter break. Jurgen Klopp's team went into the contest top of the league and looking to extend their lead over second-placed Manchester City.
During the first half, Diaz was on the receiving end of a tackle from Bournemouth forward Justin Kluivert. The Cherries star was battling for possession with Alexis Mac Allister, before appearing to accidentally stand on Diaz's leg while trying to win the ball.

The challenge led to Diaz needing treatment for several minutes from the Liverpool medical staff but he was able to see out the rest of the first half. VAR did not intervene to advise the referee to look at the pitchside monitor to review the challenge, and so no red card was awarded.
Carragher was appearing as a pundit for Sky Sports' coverage of Liverpool's trip to the Vitality Stadium. The Reds legend believes that his old club will be 'frustrated' by the lack of a red card for Kluivert, due to the decision to send off Curtis Jones against Tottenham Hotspur in September.
"I think Kluivert is a lucky boy," Carragher told Sky Sports when asked if the Kluivert tackle on Diaz was worthy of a red card. "Them type of situations, I don't want to see the red card, but the reason Liverpool will be frustrated is because Curtis Jones got sent off for something similar away at Tottenham.
"When you see it in slow-motion, you think it’s a shocker, it’s a red card. I don’t like it getting slowed down too much, I've always said that when VAR are looking at it. It’s a nasty challenge but I think [the referee] just gets the right decision.
"For me, football isn't played in slow-motion. When you see it at full speed, it doesn't look like there's too much in it. But there will be frustration, and understandably so, because of Curtis Jones [red card vs Tottenham]."
