Brian Brobbey addresses Manchester United transfer talk with intriguing summer hint
Manchester United have been linked with a move for Ajax star Brian Brobbey but both the 21-year-old and manager John van't Schip have reiterated their stance - for now
Brian Brobbey has addressed reports linking him with a move to Manchester United - but the 21-year-old says he will be staying in the Eredivisie with Ajax.
Sky Germany reported last week that United manager Erik ten Hag had pinpointed the Holland international as part of a 'two-man transfer priority list' which also featured Bologna goal-getter Joshua Zirkzee. The former RB Leipzig striker has previously been a target at Old Trafford as they looked to hijack Ajax's ploy to bring him back to Amsterdam, following his disappointing stint in Germany with Die Roten Bullen.
Ten Hag handed Brobbey his debut at the Johan Cruyff Arena as an 18-year-old and the striker is firing on all cylinders as he looks to inspire a turnaround for John van't Schip's side. Brobbey scored twice in Sunday's 4-1 win over RKC as Ajax reduced the gap between themselves and a Champions League qualification spot to just six points - after being bottom of the table in November.

The 21-year-old hasn't been afraid to discuss transfer interest for his services in the past but he shut down the January speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League, although he didn't rule out a summer transfer.
"I don’t know anything, I’ve also seen it in the news. I’m staying in Amsterdam. Can they come back in the summer? Who knows," Brobbey said.
"No, I have no contact with Erik. We used to text sometimes, but Erik has enough on his mind and I have a new number."
The firm stance has been echoed by the Ajax boss that Brobbey is not for sale. The Dutchman only returned to Ajax in 2022, signing a five-year deal with the club after a successful short-term loan.
"As far as I'm concerned, Brian Brobbey is not for sale," Van't Schip said after their win on Sunday. "I actually have the 'not for sale' sign hanging around his neck.
"I don't think it would be useful if he left now. But who am I to say that? I actually think that we are now working on making this group as strong as possible and Brobbey is a very important player for that."
