Liel Abada lands Celtic loan transfer exit options as 3 English sides make move amid 'challenging' situation
The winger penned a contract extension in September last year with his deal set to run until 2027.
Celtic winger Liel Abada is a loan target for West Brom, Southampton and Watford this month, according to a report.
And it is claimed that clubs from Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga are also keeping tabs on the situation and "ask" if the Scottish Premiership leaders would be open to allowing the Israel international to leave on loan this month. Abada returned to the Celtic squad in the derby day win over Rangers and has been working his way back to full fitness after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The pro-Palestine stance among a section of the Parkhead support has raised questions about whether Abada could remain in Glasgow long-term amid the on-going conflict with Israel. Former Celtic star Nir Bitton has been a vocal critic of the Hoops' fans while several Israeli international team-mates and pundits in his homeland have advised him to make a move away from the Scottish champions as soon as possible.
The Daily Mail report that Abada has found the situation "challenging" and that "a six-month loan move could offer time and space to review the situation in the summer." West Brom are said to be preparing to join Watford, Southampton and clubs from France and Germany in pursuing a deal.
Celtic are said to have "shown no desire to lose" the 22-year-old for the second half of the season. The winger signed a new four-year deal last September which will see him remain under contract until 2027.
Speaking on Abada earlier this month, boss Brendan Rodgers said: "He’s a very young guy so he needs help and support. I’m obviously there for him. You’ll never be the player’s best friend but there are times when you have to show that side which gives them a bit of comfort and confidence to keep going. He’s settled and happy here now."
