Bruno Guimaraes and Roberto Firmino respond as Joelinton shares Newcastle promise

Newcastle United are currently missing several key players to injury, with Brazil international Joelinton the latest addition to that list.

Joelinton has received messages of support after vowing to bounce back stronger from his injury setback.

The Newcastle United midfielder is expected to be sidelined until May after sustaining a thigh problem during the club's FA Cup derby win at Sunderland earlier this month.

It was confirmed on Tuesday by the Magpies that the Brazilian has successfully undergone surgery to address this issue and will now commence a period of rehabilitation behind the scenes.

Offering his own thoughts on the challenge that lies ahead, Joelinton shared a heartfelt message with supporters on Instagram. "Today begins another challenge in my life and career, and it is with tears in my eyes and a smile on my face that I am writing this," he said.

"But it is a challenge that I will overcome as I have already overcome many others, today begins another beginning in which I will dedicate myself and do my best to recover well and get back to doing what I love in the best way possible. Thank you everyone for your love and support! I’ll be back soon."

Responding to this update, Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes wrote: "You will come back stronger brother!! Good head. We will be together till the end." Fellow member of the Brazil national squad and ex-Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino, meanwhile, left a comment of a praying hands emoji for the 27-year-old. Former Magpies winger Allan Saint-Maximin added: "Take care my brother."

Joelinton's future at St James' Park remains up in the air, with his current contract set to expire next summer. The Chronicle recently reported Newcastle remain in negotiations with the player and Eddie Howe is keen for him to remain at the club.
