Former Manchester United defender Sergio Reguilon praised his ex-teammate Lisandro Martinez as he was pictured at Carrington on Wednesday.

Reguilon joined United on loan from Tottenham Hotspur on the summer transfer window's Deadline Day. Erik ten Hag moved to bring in the full-back after injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

The 27-year-old made 12 appearances for United during his stint in Manchester including two games in the Champions League. But as Shaw returned to full fitness, Reguilon's opportunities in the first-team squad diminished and it was no surprise when the Reds exercised the option to allow the full-back's loan spell to end.

Despite a short spell playing for the Reds, Reguilon still keeps an eye on his ex-teammates and showered one with praise on Instagram this week. After posting a shot from training, Martinez captioned the post with: "You’ve always got to bring your inner child out."

To which, Reguilon responded in the comments: "What a player." After leaving Old Trafford, it did not take the Spaniard long to find a new club.

Almost immediately, Reguilon was sent on loan to Brentford to help the Bees in their fight against relegation. The Spurs man made his debut for Thomas Frank's side at the weekend as he came on as a substitute in the 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest.

United could come up against Reguilon again this season when the Reds travel to Brentford on March 30. In the meantime, Martinez and co are preparing themselves for Sunday's FA Cup fourth round trip to Newport County.
