TIME IS DON

Barry Robson sends defiant message over Aberdeen future as fans call for his head & say ‘we’re past the angry stage’

The manager has admitted that one of his aims for the season will now be 'really difficult'

ABERDEEN fans believe Barry Robson's job is hanging by a thread following the Dons' 2-0 defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle.

The Pittodrie club sit eighth in the Premiership after winning just six games from 20 league matches.

Aberdeen finished third last season and their ambitious fan base won't accept anything less from their team from now on.

But the Dons find themselves seemingly already out of the race for third as they sit 19 points below Hearts, although they have three games in hand.

The 2-0 win for Steven Naismith's side propelled them further away from Robson's men.

Away fans at Tynecastle were heard chanting 'Robson, get to f***' and even some of the home support joined in with 'sacked in the morning' shouts at full-time.

Aberdeen fans have now taken to social media to take aim at the under-fire boss following the latest defeat.

One fan said: "Sack him now.

Another demanded: "That's Robson out, surely."

A third wrote: "Pathetic, don’t even hang around, cut your losses and sack him now."

Someone else insisted: "Enough is enough."

One supporter speaking on BBC Sportsound claimed that enough is enough and insisted fans are now "past the angry stage".

Outrage towards Robson and his under-performing Aberdeen is the general feeling among the Pittodrie support.

The former Celtic, Aberdeen, Dundee United and Middlesbrough midfielder was appointed the club's manager last May on a two-year deal after a run of seven straight win as interim boss.

He led Aberdeen to third place and into Europe, but he has admitted that it's unlikely they can achieve the same feat this season.

Speaking after the 2-0 defeat to Hearts, Robson confessed: “It is a really difficult task when you look at the points difference.

“But the one thing is I’m a fighter and we are Aberdeen.

“My players are fighters and we will keep working and making sure we win the next game and keep going.

"When you come down to Tynecastle you need to play really well and everybody needs to be at it.

"We never got the luck today. I've watched it (the penalty) back and it doesn't look like it's clear and obvious.

"The one thing I was really angry about is when we gave the penalty away we never performed well after that.

"That for me as I've said to the players is when you go a goal down then you've got to be better than that in the last 25 minutes - that's what I was angry about.”

Robson knows the pressure is building with his side languishing in the bottom half of the table.

He said: "I think from the minute I've been here under pressure as an Aberdeen manager, anybody that's been an Aberdeen manager will tell you that.

"I understand the club, know the club, I know the demands of the club and I get it.”
