Celtic transfer bulletin as David Turnbull wanted in Wales while Rodgers looks south for two recruits

All the latest transfer news surrounding the Hoops as another fringe man is linked with a move away.

David Turnbull is attracting interest from Cardiff City as uncertainty surrounds the Celtic midfielder's future.

The Scotland international signed for the Hoops under Neil Lennon in 2020 but his contract expires at the end of this season. His starts have gradually decreased under Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers, leading to links away from the club. Blockbuster rumours of AC Milan emerged in the winter but now it's the Welsh capital that is claimed to be calling his name.

According to Sky Sports, the English Championship side are "interested" in signing the playmaker. It is suggested that the Bluebirds "have contacted the Scottish Premiership champions and it is understood talks are continuing". Turnbull has scored seven times this season and is a full Scotland international. It is not suggested whether it would be a loan at this stage or permanent deal. If Turnbull does end up at Cardiff City then he could be reunited with a former Celtic team-mate with the Welsh side having reportedly beaten Blackburn Rovers to the signing of Nat Phillips from Liverpool who had an unsuccessful loan spell at Parkhead in the first half of the season.

Another couple of players who could be heading for the exit door at Celtic is Mikey Johnston, who with minutes limited, also has options in the English second tier. Norwich City and West Brom are two sides after the Republic of Ireland international. Nicolas Kuhn's arrival from Rapid Wien has pushed Johnston further down the pecking order.

Rocco Vata is also in contract talks with the club over a new deal. A four-year contract is on the table but negotiations are still at an early stage, with reports claiming the first offer was short of what the winger expected, although Record Sport can reveal the discussions remain positive. Italian clubs are interested in the teenager. Gustaf Lagerbielke is edging closer to a loan move to Lecce.

In terms of incomings, Rodgers may look south with the deadline looming on Thursday, according to the Daily Mail. There have been no new arrivals since Kuhn's transfer midway through the window. And fans are keen for the club to back Rodgers in the market with title glory on their mind. Rodgers is after a frontman and full-back before Thursday. However, they won't be permanent deals, "with loans from England the most likely marketplace".

Owen Beck is one star who won't arrive, as the Liverpool left-back returns to Dundee on loan. Celtic had declared an interest in him but with a senior appearance for the Reds this month, he is only eligible for Liverpool or Tony Docherty's side, although they could return for him in the summer if interest was still apparent.

While Rodgers may be looking to England for a striker, former boss and midfielder Neil Lennon insists Hearts' Lawrence Shankland or Aberdeen's Bojan Miovski could fill their striker void. He told PLZ: "We have talked about Shankland and Miovski.

"I don't want to be disrespectful to Aberdeen or Hearts fans. There's always speculation about players leaving, because it's not right. Those two would be the pick for me. They know the environment and I am sure they would go on to do better things at a club like Celtic with the coaching and players around them."
