The Jack Butland Rangers transfer 'worry' named before John Hartson issues blunt exit response
Philippe Clement's No1 is wanted back in the English Premier League with the Ibrox men kicking out an offer from the City Ground.
Jack Butland is the reported interest from England with one pundit naming the "only worry" that Rangers fans may have.
Philippe Clement's number one wanted back in the English Premier League with the Ibrox men kicking out an offer from south of the border. While Record Sport understands that Nottingham Forest are not the club that made the move - it doesn't mean that the big money offers will be halted.
The chat in recent days surrounding the former Crystal Palace and Manchester United goalkeeper has been whether he should be in Gareth Southgate's England squad for the Euros after the form he has shown both domestically and in Europe since his free transfer to Rangers. He has been the standout summer signing and Stephen McGinn reckons he would be a 'huge loss' if he was to go as he questioned whether his international hopes could sway his thinking over a return south of the border.
He told Go Radio: "It would be a huge loss if they were to lose him. It just shows you with football. He was a free transfer six months ago and people need to see you playing football before taking a chance on you.
"The only worry if I was a Rangers fan would be if he would be swayed by the thought of playing back in the English Premier League. For whatever reason, we don't like it up here, but they don't acknowledge you as an English international while you are playing up here.
"That is the only worry. Would he look to the England squad and think 'if I go to Nottingham Forest and playing every week and well, could I get back into that squad?"
Celtic hero John Hartson is adamant Rangers will not sell Butland. He has expressed how important he is to Clement's hopes of lifting the league title and booking a spot in the Champions League next season.
He added: "That will never, ever happen. He is so, so important to Rangers in trying to win the league in terms of that Champions League spot. They would never sell Butland."
