Barry Robson in crunch talks with Aberdeen FC as boss faces the SACK after 9 months in permanent charge
The 45-year-old signed a two-year deal in May but the Pittodrie club could pull the trigger on their former player.
Barry Robson could be sacked as Aberdeen manager TODAY as club chiefs hold showdown talks to discuss his future.
The boss’s job is under threat after just nine months in permanent charge at Pittodrie following a lacklustre run of Scottish Premiership form. The 45-year-old saw the pressure the mount on Tuesday night following a drab 1-1 draw at home to Dundee on which leaves the Reds EIGHTEEN points behind Hearts who sit in third place in the league.
Fans were already calling for Robson's head after a 2-0 defeat to the Jambos at the weekend with banners urging the board to sack him appearing at Pittodrie. There were further chants at the stadium on Tuesday night and Record Sport understands Robson and assistant Steve Agnew are meeting the board this morning. Robson led Aberdeen to a best of the the rest finish last season while in interim charge and that earned him the job on a permanent basis - the club's 24th permanent boss - following Jim Goodwin's sacking. He also guided them to the Viaplay Cup final but they lost to Rangers at Hampen and also failed to make their mark on the Europa Conference League.
Along with assistant Agnew, Robson's time in temporary charge was a huge success as they led the Reds to seven wins on the spin and secured third spot in the Scottish Premiership to guarantee European group stage football at Pittodrie for the first time in 15 years.
But despite League Cup run, Robson's side struggled to cope with the demands of European football as their league form suffered and being held by the Dark Blues was just the latest set-back with fans calling for him to go and it's almost certain to be the final straw and he leaves the club. However, Dave Cormack could yet be convinced to give the Inverurie man more time as he did with Goodwin.
