Here are the latest Newcastle United transfer news and rumours.

Man United urged to go for Wilson

Former Manchester United and Newcastle striker Louis Saha feels the Old Trafford club should test the Magpies' resolve over Callum Wilson on the final day of the January transfer window. While head coach Eddie Howe has already said any late deals are highly unlikely, Saha believes the experienced Wilson would be perfect for Man U.

Wilson is close to returning to action following injury and, with Alexander Isak limping out of the win over Aston Villa, Newcastle are now highly unlikely to offload their No 9.

“I believe he’s somebody to consider because he’s an experienced striker and the team needs experience in their squad to positively affect the balance," Saha told Betfred. "Rasmus Hojlund is a young lad, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho are still very young, so I believe adding more experience up top is something to consider. They need a forward that knows where to go and is capable of asking for more from the players around him."

Ederson battle

Reports in Brazil suggest Newcastle United, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool will battle it out for Atalanta’s Ederson - although any deal is likely to be in the summer. We have reported previously that the Magpies have watched the midfielder, who is attracting attention from around Europe.

The 24-year-old midfielder is high up on PSG's wishlist, with Atalanta believed to be open to offers. However, it now looks as though he will be staying in Serie A until the summer.
