Alejo Veliz will be playing his football in La Liga for the remainder of the season with a loan move to Sevilla to be completed on transfer deadline day. Only joining Tottenham in the summer from Rosario Central in Argentina, the perfect opportunity has come up for the striker to depart north London on a temporary basis and add some more experience to his game.

Clearly having a good relationship with Sevilla after concluding two deals for Bryan Gil with them in the past - one of which saw Erik Lamela head in the opposite direction - Tottenham have agreed to Veliz linking up with the Andalusia-based team on a straight loan until the end of the term. Sevilla are in need of adding some more firepower to their frontline as they are nervously looking over their shoulder at the relegation zone in Spain's top flight.

In 16th and one point above Cadiz in the final relegation spot, Los Nervionenses need to start stringing the results together in the second half of the season if they are to move away from the bottom three. Veliz will hopefully be able to provide them with the goals up front after previously making his mark in Argentina with Rosario.

Very much a player for the future as Tottenham plan for the years ahead, the 20-year-old has managed to get game time here and there under Ange Postecoglou this term. Appearing in eight Premier League games off the bench, the Argentine was on the scoresheet at the end of December after netting a consolation goal in the 4-2 defeat away at Brighton & Hove Albion.

In his following outing, the youngster unfortunately sustained a knee injury that Postecoglou stated would keep him out for at least "a couple of months". However, earlier this week the player took to his Instagram Stories and published footage of him training at Hotspur Way on his own as he did a number of runs the length of a football pitch.

Looking to be running with ease only a month after his injury in the win over the Cherries, Veliz appears to be in a good place to make his comeback sooner rather than later and that will only help Sevilla out in their bid to keep their top-flight status. Tottenham fans may point to a lack of out-and-out strikers at the club ahead of Veliz's temporary move to Spain but Postecoglou does have sufficient cover in that area of the pitch.

Richarlison is currently the man leading the line and looks set to do so over the coming weeks and months after scoring seven goals in his last seven Premier League appearances. Son Heung-min, once he returns from his Asian Cup participation, is also another option to play through the middle and the same goes for loan signing Timo Werner.

Tottenham also have Dane Scarlett to consider up front after his early recall from his loan spell with Ipswich Town in the Championship after limited opportunities at Portman Road. Perhaps more suited to Postecoglou's Spurs system than Veliz, the academy ace may just be ahead of his teammate in the head coach's thinking right now.

Given a likely lack of first-team opportunities between now and May, the chance for Veliz to head to La Liga looks to be the perfect move for all parties involved. Veliz, for one, will get to play regularly for Sevilla, who in turn will bring in a player on loan who could make a big difference for them in the final third as they look to turn around a season to forget so far.

And then there's Tottenham, who will of course benefit in the long run from Veliz getting more starts to his name and that will only strengthen his chances of making a real name for himself at Spurs in 2024/25. A key few months coming up for the player in terms of his development, Veliz will be intent on showing everyone at Tottenham what he can do in his short time with Sevilla.
