FIFA launch investigation into West Ham over failed Transfer Deadline Day deals
FIFA will investigate why Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals' moves away from West Ham collapsed on Transfer Deadline Day - with Lyon and Real Betis left furious at the situation
FIFA have launched an investigation into why Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals didn't leave West Ham on Transfer Deadline Day.
Lyon and Real Betis, where the duo were set to move, have both accused West Ham of botching the paperwork. French side Lyon were set to have Algerian winger Benrahma, 28, put pen to paper on his £15million move live on TV when the move broke down.
The Ligue 1 outfit were furious, releasing an explosive statement where they slammed the Hammers for "demonstrating a deep lack of respect on the part of West Ham for the institution and the player". Spanish team Betis weren't quite as angry - but still suggested they expected the deal to bring attacking midfielder Fornals, 27, back to his home country to go through.

David Moyes responded to the claims during his press conference on Friday: "It’s a big word to use before we get a chance to show exactly what happened or didn’t happen..."
Both Lyon and Betis are now in contact with FIFA, football’s world governing body, who are looking into the doomed deals.

Moyes continued: "It looks like there have been some problems with the paperwork [for Benrahma] at the last minute. But I only learned about it when I came off the pitch late last night.
"I think there is a chance the Pablo deal will be ratified. I can't confirm if it will or not at the moment though. We wanted to strengthen, and we worked really hard to bring in an attacking player as well, but we couldn't just quite get there."
And with FIFA's intervention, Benrahma looks set to complete his move to France, with the FA sending their validation request to FFF to help get the deal across the line.
