But defeat for Japan to Iran means that Maeda and Hatate will be returning to the club soon.

However Celtic will have to make do without Hatate for longer as it was confirmed he will be out for SIX weeks.

The midfielder has injured both calves and remains sidelined, joining a list of crocked players including Cameron Carter-Vickers and Greg Taylor.

But he has updated fans on his Instagram account regarding his involvement in the Japan squad.

He posted: "I could not contribute to the team and I am not good enough.

"I accept the reality and will continue to fight. Thank you for your support for the Asian Cup!"

Alongside the post was an image of him in action for his country.

The news is unwanted for the Hoops who added just two new players to their ranks during the winter transfer window.

Which left fans up in arms about the lack of investment from the board to improve the side.

And boss Brendan Rodgers also confirmed his club could be 'braver' at bringing in a higher level quality of player.

Meanwhile, a Norwich insider has revealed why it made sense to let Adam Idah go to Celtic.

The Republic of Ireland international moved to Glasgow on deadline day on a short term loan deal until the end of the season.

He has teamed up with fellow countryman Liam Scales as he looks to revitalise his career following a spell of inconsistency with The Canaries.

He was introduced into the game against Aberdeen when he provided the assist for Celtic's equaliser.

And he'll be hoping to get more game time ahead of struggling Kyogo who has failed to continue his goalscoring form in the last few months.
