Chris Sutton and Kris Boyd AGREED that Dujon Sterling should NOT have been sent off for Rangers - but potential handballs against Connor Goldson sparked debate.

The Light Blues star was sent packing by Don Robertson before the whistler was sent to the monitor to review his decision after a VAR check. But after watching the incident back on the screen, he decided to stand by his original decision. It is an outcome rarely seen in Scottish football since the introduction of the technology and while he didn't agree with the call, Sutton did praise the man in the middle for sticking to his guns.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he explained: "I didn't think it was a red card. But do you know what? Fair play to Don. He saw it as a red and went and looked at the monitor and stuck with his decision under all sorts of pressure here at Ibrox. I just think it is mistimed, he slips after and it is a yellow card offence."

Boyd added: "I agree with Chris. Is there speed there? Yeah. Maybe. But that is the only box it ticks. Endangering an opponent? No. Chance of playing the ball? Yes. Intent? No. It's not high, it's the bottom of the foot. Not at the ankle. He's not left the ground. I think it is the wrong decision."

Eilidh Barbour then flagged two Rangers 'handball' moments that sparked debate in the studio between Sutton, Boyd and former Aberdeen goalkeeper Joe Lewis but then added there was a foul between the two calls. Sutton: "You've got the first one here that lands on Goldson's arm, which is out. But this one I think that is going in. He is falling in front of the ball and making himself bigger. Does that hit him below the shirt line? Let's have a look here..I think it does."

Boyd: "It is the supporting arm, back to goal. And I think if we rewind a few weeks ago to Celtic at Rugby Park. You weren't saying that there."

Lewis: "What the first one? Boyd: "Doesn't make his body bigger though. That is a natural position."

Lewis: "That is a natural position? He's not jumping though is he?" Boyd: "It's a natural position for me. You've changed your tune."

Sutton: "That possibly there. If it had been at the other end I am sure they would have checked it. I think it hits him a lot lower than the one at Rugby Park."

Boyd: "Oh right ok. It was never a penalty at Rugby Park though. Who were Kilmarnock playing that day? When I said it was a penalty at Rugby Park I was told to apply the rules of the game. The rules of the game is it is a supporting arm with his back to goal."

Sutton: "They are fortunate Rangers not to have that awarded against them." Lewis: "I think the first one more than the second one." Boyd: "Talk about clutching at straws. Let's move on."
