Hibs ace Martin Boyle wrongly denied Celtic penalty says Nick Montgomery as boss says ‘it’s irrelevant how he went down’
NICK WALSH awarded two penalties at Easter Road last night - but Nick Montgomery is adamant that he and his VAR official Andrew Dallas should have given another.
Martin Boyle was on a storming run through the Celtic defence when there was contact between him and Alexandro Bernabei which seemed to push him off balance.
He then went to ground rather theatrically - with referee Nick Walsh giving him a yellow card for diving and VAR official Dallas seeing no reason to get involved.
But Montgomery was convinced that the touch on his star was enough for the penalty award.
He said: "I've watched plenty of incidents and watching it back on slow motion, he gets caught from behind on his quad.
"He's limping around in there and they are really sore ones.

"It's irrelevant how he goes down. He's been caught from behind, that's knocked him off balance.
"And if he goes down on one leg ... two legs ... or head first ... if that is seen by the VAR and the ref looks at it, he has no options but to give a penalty."
Former Celtic and Hibs star John Collins told BBC Sportsound that he felt his reputation has gone against him.
He said: "He's got a little reputation of going down too easily and I think it has gone against him.

"We thought it looked like a penalty and thought, 'Why is he going down if he's not been touched?'
"He was in a great position to get a shot off, so it was disappointing from his point of view."
