Ryan Kent 'regrets' Rangers champion snub as Fenerbahce trigger nightmare scenario with key deadline approaching

The wide man had the chance to reunite with Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League.

Misfit Ryan Kent reportedly "regrets" turning down former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard and joining him in the Saudi Pro League.

It comes with Fenerbahce now leaving the winger off their list for league fixtures with the Istanbul side desperately attempting to offload the Englishman before the end of the Turkish transfer window. After leaving Rangers last summer as a free agent, it has been a nightmare spell for the wide man having been frozen out of the first-team picture by Ismail Kartal with the boss publicly criticising Kent.

His last appearance for the Turkish giants coming back in November in the Europa Conference League mauling at the hands of minnows Nordsjaelland and time appeared to be up for Kent in Turkey with clubs lining up to take the attacker on loan until the end of the season. Late offers from the English Championship and Dinamo Zagreb were turned down while a surprise switch to Lazio fell apart.

But Al-Ettifaq and former boss Gerrard was said to have been keen on a reunion with reports suggesting that the Saudi club stumping up a £3.4million offer to take him to the Middle East on a permanent basis. Kent reportedly knocked back the offer - but Fotospor claim he now "regrets" turning down his Ibrox mentor.

It comes with the report stating that Kent will be "left off the list" for league games - relegating Kent to only appearing in the Conference League and cup competitions. The foreign player list will be rubber stamped by the Turkish FA when the transfer deadline passes for the league at midnight on February 9.

With business still to be done by Fener, the club are said to be keen to offload Kent to a league rival. Sabah report that Istanbul Başakşehir have been offered Ryan Kent on loan and a transfer fee in exchange for a late deal to Berkay Özcan.
