Aston Villa’s injury problems are mounting as Diego Carlos has reportedly picked up a hamstring issue.

The Athletic report that Carlos sustained the injury in training and will now undergo tests to determine its severity. The news follows Ezri Konsa being sidelined for at least another four weeks after he sprained his knee in the 5-0 win over Sheffield United.

Boubacar Kamara was then ruled out for the rest of the season after rupturing knee ligaments during Villa’s defeat to Manchester United last time out. It could leave Emery with just two fit senior centre-backs in Clement Lenglet and Pau Torres.

Lenglet has started the last ten games in all competitions while Torres twice aggravated an ankle injury. The Spaniard could now return to the starting XI this weekend against Fulham this Saturday after featuring in the last two matchday squads.

Villa lost Tyrone Mings to an ACL injury at the start of the season, while Calum Chambers - who Emery views as an option at right-back or in midfield - has only started one league game under Emery since he joined the club back in November 2022. The 29-year-old was also free to leave the club last month.

Carlos has made 25 appearances in all competitions this season and has started ten of Villa's last 12 Premier League games.
