Former Manchester United and Juventus goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar is doing well after suffering a brain haemorrhage while on holiday last year
Manchester United legend Edwin van der Sar has given an update on his health after suffering a brain haemorrhage last year.
The former goalkeeper, 52, was rushed to hospital in June after suffering bleeding around the brain while holidaying with his family in Croatia. After his condition stabilised, Van der Sar was moved to a hospital in the Netherlands to continue his recovery.
He has since been given the green light to travel and was at Old Trafford for United's thrilling win over Aston Villa during the festive period. Seven months after the health scare, Van der Sar has given a positive update on his condition (via the Manchester Evening News).

He told the KieftJansenEgmondGijp podcast. "My health is doing well, I didn't get much damage from it, I think. But I have never spent a day in the office from 9am to 5pm. But no, I'm fine.
The interviewers commented that Van der Sar looked good, to which he joked: "Thank you, but if I had known there was going to be a camera, I would have made an effort."

He revealed that he had holidayed in the Caribbean with his wife but skipped Curacao as there are "too many Dutch people". Before his health scare, Van der Sar had just stepped down as CEO at Ajax, the club which launched his career before spells at Juventus, Fulham and United.
Van der Sar, who won 130 caps for his country, briefly resumed his playing career at VV Noordwijk before going into football administration.
