Peter Drury has infuriated Manchester United fans with his quip about Harry Styles.

Red Devils fan Styles was in attendance at Kenilworth Road on Sunday afternoon as Erik ten Hag's side survived a spirited Luton performance. United netted two early goals, through Rasmus Hojlund, and then hung on to claim a huge three points.

And Drury quipped at the end of the game: "United are heading in One Direction," a nod to Styles' hit boyband. However, fans weren't too happy with the predictable line.

"Drury has actually just said the ‘united are heading in One Direction’ line ahaha," one fan joked. While a second shared: "Thought we’d escaped the Peter Drury One Direction joke!"

"Oh f*** off. Everyone hearing: 'Man Utd are only going in One Direction'," a third shared. And another added: "Not the commentator saying Man Utd are going in One Direction after camera pans on Harry clapping. I did also enjoy another close up of Harry with ‘its Luton that’s showing the Dunkirk spirit’..."

Ten Hag revealed he was happy with their performance when speaking to the BBC after the game: "We had good chances with Garnacho and Rashford, it could have been three or four-nil.

"After that we lose some focus and we are not so strict in what we should do and they came more in the game. We dropped too deep and allowed them too many passes.

"We gave some chances away and they got the 2-1. That's no good. But after half-time we picked it up. We had several chances. So many chances one against one. I think it was Garnacho, Rashford again, it was Bruno Fernandes. We had so many chances, it should be 3-1 in these moments."
