Kenny Miller reckons Rangers ARE title favourites now - and delivered three key reasons why.

Philippe Clement and his troops moved into top spot over the weekend for the first time in a long time after they defeated St Johnstone in Perth on Sunday - 24 hours after Celtic dropped home points to Kilmarnock after conceding a last-gasp leveller. It's been quite the turnaround for the Ibrox men from the start of the season as they take advantage in the race for the league crown with 12 games to play.

Miller - who played for both Rangers and Celtic - reckons the Ibrox men have momentum, form and the atmosphere surrounding the team on their side at present with the Hoops struggles laid bare by Greg Taylor who revealed words were spoken in the dressing room after the 1-1 draw with Derek McInnes' men in Glasgow's east end. Miller told the Scottish Football Podcast: “There’s an air around Celtic Park at the moment. As if they’re waiting for something to happen because they’re really frustrated and maybe upset with certain transfer windows. (Summer and January)

“Whereas on the other side of the city, 1-1 against Aberdeen at Ibrox, I’ve been in that place. There can be tension, there can be nervousness, there can be anxiety, there can be frustrations. See that night there was a real calmness and a belief that the team would go on and get the job done and Todd Cantwell popped up with the winning goal.

“I just think at this moment in time momentum is on Rangers’ side, form is on Rangers’ side, I think the environment and the atmosphere surrounding the team is on Rangers’ side. So I think they have to be labelled as favourites at this moment in time.”

He added: "It's first time for a long time to be top of the league for a team like Rangers. I did say a couple of weeks ago after Aberdeen at Ibrox that there was a real sense that there could be something special on the horizon for this group of players and management team. This was a big step to get back to the top of the league."
