Boubacar Kamara breaks silence after Aston Villa's classy Fulham move amid huge injury blow

Aston Villa midfielder Boubacar Kamara has responded to the support shown by his teammates after being ruled out for the season with a knee ligament injury

Aston Villa midfielder Boubacar Kamara has responded to the support shown by his teammates after being ruled out for the remainder of the season.

It was confirmed by Villa last week that Kamara had suffered a significant knee ligament injury in the defeat to Manchester United. When asked for a timeline on the France international’s recovery, Villa boss Unai Emery suggested that he could return by September or October.

Remarkably, Kamara is the third Villa player to suffer an ACL injury this season, following Emiliano Buendia and Tyrone Mings. The absence of Kamara will be keenly felt by the Villa squad as the club lack a like-for-like replacement, with captain John McGinn partnering Douglas Luiz in midfield for the win over Fulham on Saturday.

Prior to kick-off at Craven Cottage, the Villa team wore shirts that carried the message, ‘Reste Fort Bouba” (Stay strong Bouba). After earning a vital three points in the team’s battle to finish in the top four, goalkeeper Emi Martinez shared a picture of the Villa team showing support for Kamara on Instagram, with the caption: “This win is for you Bouba.”

The post was liked by numerous players in the Villa squad and Kamara offered a quick reply in the comments. The 24-year-old posted a heart and a fire emoji in response to Martinez’s tribute.

Kamara’s absence presented Unai Emery with a conundrum in midfield, with Youri Tielemans and Tim Iroegbunam being alternatives to McGinn in the double pivot. Villa reacted well to Kamara’s absence against Fulham and will hope to reward the midfielder with Champions League football next season upon his return to fitness.
